The restaurant was founded in June 1991 in St. John's, Newfoundland. Each restaurant is decorated on the inside to look like a jungle to give it a jungle themed atmosphere. It is the most widely known restaurant operator in Newfoundland and Labrador and the largest non-pizza operator in Atlantic Canada [1]. Jungle Jim's also has one American store in Williamsburg, Virginia.
